Two months ago, it wasn’t a new Louis Vuitton handbag that was grabbing all the headlines—it was a pair of sneakers. Dubbed the Sneakerinas, the shoes debuted to much fanfare. “The world of sport plays on contrasts and stirs up emotions with this new creation, distinguished by its hybrid design midway between sneakers and contemporary ballet flats,” Louis Vuitton explained in a press release. “This resolutely dynamic, streamlined model combines freedom of movement with unrivaled agility.”
Priced at $975, LV’s new sneakers are cheaper than the brand’s bags, but they’re a hefty investment nonetheless. The Vans Super Lowpro Shoes are a more-than-worthy alternative at $85, especially considering that they launched a month ahead of the Sneakerinas. Inspired by ’80s shoes from Vans‘s archives, the Super Lowpro Shoes are noticeably sleeker and lighter than the SoCal brand’s signature styles, such as the Old Skool and Authentic.
